The Community
Orkuveitan and its subsidiaries provide some form of service to about eight out of every ten Icelanders. In most cases, the companies act as a kind of intermediary between the country's resources and the people and companies that benefit from them.
The responsibility of Orkuveitan (Reykjavik Energy) and thereby Veitur (Utilities), Orka náttúrunnar (ON Power), Ljósleiðarinn (Reykjavik Fibre Network), and Carbfix is to ensure that the service is reliable and reasonably priced. The service should thus strengthen communities without depleting natural resources in such a way that future generations cannot also enjoy them.
Strong dialogue with the community
Orkuveitan places great emphasis on providing clear, reliable, and accessible information about its operations. It is important for us to have an open and active dialogue with the community, where trust and transparency are the guiding principles in all our communications. By sharing knowledge and information about our projects in a simple way, we contribute to an informed discussion on issues that matter to the nation – whether it's energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, or climate issues.
We play a key role in Icelandic society by ensuring access to clean energy, reliable infrastructure, secure telecommunications, and climate solutions. We believe that success in these projects is built on a solid relationship with the community, government, customers, and staff. Therefore, we work systematically to listen, respond, and share information that strengthens our common vision of a sustainable future and creates clean opportunities for the future.
Customers
The customers of Orkuveitan (Reykjavik Energy) and its subsidiaries – Veitur, Orka náttúrunnar (ON Power), Ljósleiðarinn (Reykjavik Fibre Network), and Carbfix – are of various kinds.
Veitur's service is, for the most part, a regional concession service where the company does not face competition. The level of service, quality of service, and pricing are subject to public oversight. Customers purchase the services of other companies within the group in a competitive market where the companies' conduct is regulated by the market and public supervisory bodies.
Public attitude towards brands
All companies in the group closely monitor the satisfaction of their customers and their changing needs, each in its own way, as the customers are of different types.
All the companies also monitor the general public's attitude towards them, and this is how it has developed in recent years.
Education
Orkuveitan is committed to educating children and adults about its operations and history, and to building further scientific knowledge in Orkuveitan's field of work.
